Beautiful Paris!

My first impression of Paris last September was that it's a very pretty, quite clean city. The locals are simply dressed yet stylish and the atmosphere is exciting and multi-cultural while still 'French'. I was unashamedly a tourist on this visit, snapping photos and oohing and aahin at the beauty of it all. What can I say, I love taking pictures and I don't care who knows it!

A longer post is to come but here's a sneak peek of my visit.

Lucky Scarf

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, I wore a pretty equestrian-print scarf to my airline interview. One of the recruiter ladies even commented on it. I had bought it on a whim a week or so before and when I got the email asking me to attend I knew it would be perfect! So now I call it my lucky scarf :P

And this was my makeup after my interview.

Trying out the red lipstick. It feels weird for someone who is used to wearing a sheer lip gloss... I loved Maybelline lip gloss in the silver pen tube, but they have discontinued it. This always happens with the brands I love!

What A Cute Kitten...

One of my favourite stores is the lovely and oh-so-French "Kitten D'Amour" (formerly known as the Sex Kitten Boutique) in central Brisbane, just off the Queen Street Mall.

Kitten D'Amour specialise in handmade, limited-edition clothing for day and evening wear. Their boutique alone is worth a visit, the layout & visual feast is to die for =D

Anyway, I wanted to show you some of the goodies I have bought from them. The service is absolutely brilliant, whether I'm spending or just browsing, I always feel like a valued customer. Last time I was there, the fabulous & friendly Tegan helpped me, and she always remembers me even though she must have a zillion customers spending way more than me! But, I love the half hour of escape I get wandering around just looking at all the cute clothes & accessories :)

Ok, on to the pictures:

I love their bags, they just make me think of Paris & Shopping! As you can see, this first bag was before they changed the name. According to the manager, the liked their name but they want to expand to other countries and some places you can't get away with a boutique that uses the word 'sex'- plus they had lots of men coming in thinking it was a classy lingerie shop! ^_^
Attention to detail is really cute, your purchases are wrapped in pink tissue and sealed with a lovely little sticker. Makes you feel like you just spent a million bucks!
This is the latest pretty I bought,a cute handmade brooch/hair accessory. I just love the polka dot ribbon contrasted with the red feathers. It looks great on a plain cardi or on a stripy top. Very Parisienne...
A cute flower scarf/choker. The number of ways to wear this that Tegan showed me was amazing, things I'd never even thought of. She alsso combined it with their pink polka dot scarf to create a whole new look. I really need to wear this one more, it's so cute.
I just *love* this adorable little mirror & comb set, it looks so cute on my dresser. (It reminds me of Anna Sui as well) This would be a great little gift, as it was only $15 the set. Tegan was so good at her job, the service ethic is great, she even polished the mirror with Windex before she wrapped it up, how cute!

On my last visit, I even got this lip gloss as a gift, very nice of the girls...

All the goodies together :)

If you want to see what else is on offer (and you should, it's GORGEOUS!) Check out the Kitten D'Amour website by clicking here.

Vintage Variety

As promised, here's a sneak peek of some of the goodies I found on my search. I haven't yet had time to photograph them on the dress-form, so these are just some 'texture shots' which I found interesting. I really like the variety of colours & fabrics in this selection.

I'm going to be quite busy over the next week, as I was last week, so after that I hope to have everything laundered & ready to photograph, then I'll list things in my Etsy store. Once I have the store looking how I want I'll post the link so you can all have a little lookie!

A mix of vintage scarves found in various op-shops... I kept the YSL... :)

Detail of scarf print. This one is from Italy.

Close-up of an adorable checked wool skirt... I love this but am pretty sure it will be going in the shop.

Really cute sheer late 70's/early 80's skirt. It needs some TLC but with a wide belt looks really good. I love the gold pinstripe running through the fabric.

Awesome tribal-print wrap skirt. I'm tempted to keep this one too, as tribal is going to be big this summer, despite that I've always liked this kind of look. But I'm trying to downsize my wardrobe, so some other lucky person can get to have this! :)

Another variation on the tribal theme, this one is a pretty sheer summer top with gold thread.

And finally, a rather pretty fern-print dress I found at the local Anglicare op-shop for a measly $6. It's a vintage size 16, so a little big for me, but I'm digging it so much I'm thinking about altering it, or just wearing it a little large with my wide belt. I tried it on & it looked ok, if a bit 'blousy'- but loose & cool is good for summer, right? :D

Busy as an Etsy Bee

Wow, I've been super-busy over this last week! It always seems there's never enough time in the day. I've managed pretty well with the Frocktober challenge, sadly I wasn't always able to get pictures of my outfits due to the weather. However, on the plus side, I did discover some new ways to wear clothes I already had, and I'll definitely be trying them out again, so there will be photos in the future.

I also spent some time at local op shops, and boy did I get some booty! I've learned a hard lesson though, as the first batch I wanted to keep all to myself! I've since figured out that the secret is to buy really awesome things in sizes that aren't mine, so I won't feel like keeping them instead of selling them to a new home.

I'm still in the process of deciding between Etsy and eBay. I think I might do a mix, as some items seem more in tune with an eBay audience, and others I think fit in more with the 'feel' of Etsy (I think that they'll be appreciated as true vintage, rather than vintage which happens to also be back on trend at the moment, if that makes sense!) I also think that some people use Etsy because they can't afford to get in bidding wars with other people over something they really love, so unlike eBay, Etsy gives them a chance to actually get something they love, right away!

Of course I'll let you know when the listings go up, but a sneak peek at some of the items is not far off. I found some great scarves (including a YSL which I just HAD to keep for myself), some cute pin-up style skirts, and some great little tops. Photos to come soon!
